The Jones Family at RIDEdwin: Bike Breakfast and Ride

The Jones Family at RIDEdwin: Bike Breakfast and RideWe’ll be attending the 3rd Annual RIDEdwin Bike Breakfast and Ride on Saturday, July 21, which celebrates the legacy of late bicycling advocate Edwin Gardner.

Charleston-area cyclists will gather at Cannon Park for a free breakfast donated by Jamie Westendorf, Whole Foods, Piggly Wiggly, and Costco. All are welcome to attend – from kids to hard-core enthusiasts. We look forward to Bike Law founder and attorney Peter Wilborn, who will speak to the crowd about road safety for cyclists and a dedicated bike lane in Hampton Park: “Gardner’s Way.”

After breakfast, there will be a 3-mile, police-guided tour of Charleston to show cyclist solidarity. Gardner’s ghost bike will go along the route to serve as a reminder to all of cyclists’ rights. This should be an event that draws in a lot of participants.

UPDATE: See a writeup in the Charleston City Paper, July 23, 2012.
